Mayfield Play Yard, Manchester
A landmark play space in the heart of the city
As Manchester’s first new city-centre public park in over a century, Mayfield Park needed a bold and inclusive play space that honoured the city’s industrial past. We were appointed to design, manufacture, and install a dynamic play area as part of the wider regeneration project.
Drawing inspiration from the foundations of octagonal chimneys uncovered on site, we developed six bespoke stainless steel towers. Each tower is connected by a network of rope bridges, crawl tunnels, and a variety of exciting play features, offering a truly immersive experience for children of all ages.
Bold, inclusive, and built to explore
At the heart of the playground is a dramatic tunnel slide that crosses the newly revealed River Medlock. With a windowed section suspended over the water, it delivers a uniquely thrilling ride and a striking visual statement.
Accessibility was a key part of the design, with a ramped section leading up to the towers, allowing wheelchair users to join the play, including a specially designed inclusive slide. From powder-coated I-beam swing frames to toddler-friendly zones, every detail reflects our commitment to durability, play value, and imaginative design. The result is a space that invites everyone to climb, connect, and explore.
