Imperial War Museum, Duxford
Inspired by aviation, designed for everyone...
We were thrilled to work with various partners to help bring the Weston Play Zone to life at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford. The brief? To create a fully inclusive and engaging play space that celebrates the thrill of flight, and offers something for every child.
... an inclusive play zone ready for take-off
At the heart of the scheme is the Playful Plane, a bespoke structure inspired by the Wellington Bomber, where children can take the pilot’s seat, map out a flight path, or connect with their crew using built-in talk tubes.
Around it, we designed a sweeping ‘vapour trail’ walkway, rope play elements, and custom parachute shelters, all echoing the museum’s aviation story through creative, hands-on play. The result is a beautifully integrated play space where imagination, movement, and history take flight.
