Robinia School Playground, Stockton Heath Primary School
From an underused school outdoor space...
This project at Stockton Heath Primary School started with a simple goal. Turn an open outdoor area into something children actually want to use every day.
We designed and installed a natural Robinia playground that brings together sand play, climbing elements and inclusive access. The result is a space that feels open, engaging and easy to explore.
At the heart of the ourdoor space is a large sand play area framed with a timber border. The play area design gives the space structure while keeping the natural feel. The main feature is our Waveney Robinia Play Unit, which combines climbing, balancing and imaginative play in one unit.
Around this, we added bespoke sand play features, climbing rocks and Robinia timber elements to create different levels of challenge and movement. An inclusive walkway runs through the space so all children can access and enjoy it.
Landscaping and Robinia poles bring everything together and help the playground sit naturally within the school environment. It is a strong example of modern school playground design using Robinia playground equipment to create a calm but active space.
...a dedicated outdoor fitness zone that encourages active play
To extend the offer beyond traditional play, we also installed a dedicated outdoor fitness area.
This space features our Robinia Fitness Station, designed to encourage strength, balance and coordination through natural movement and play-based exercise.
It works as a simple but effective piece of school fitness equipment. Children can climb, hang and move in ways that build physical confidence without it feeling like formal exercise.
The Robinia timber design keeps it consistent with the rest of the playground, so the fitness area feels fully integrated rather than separate. It is a good example of how Robinia fitness products can support active learning in primary school environments.
